the problem was that people didn't understand that the mug line is supposed to be formed by the 2 rows of chairs. if you are sitting on those chairs then you are on line and betty alternates, calling 2 people each from both rows of chairs. the amorphous blob in between the rows was what made getting in so hectic. i'm not blaming the freshmen per se...but it was obviously people who had never been to the mug before causing the crowd.
