contrast IS hot! kudos to everyone who worked so hard on it!! now let's see something other than american apparel for the next issue...
I wasn't really that impressed...
why don't you get back under that bridge, troll?
It was better than I thought it would be. I'm interested to see what they'll do next semester[get them to do a weekly blog post!!]

Great job in the issue, everyone! I'm proud of my measly contributions as a member of the layout staff (I mean, really measly). Jenny and the other main contributers did an excellent job. <3We only had two months to get this issue together (and two weeks to do the main layout stuff, sniff), so I'm impressed with how it finally came out. I hope that next issue we actually see CAMPUS style, not just the editors' conception of style, which, as far as I'm concerned, is kind of lacking. And maybe models of color/ different body types? Yes?
why would you even come out with a magazine for vassar fashion that has NO diversity? ugh.
where do we get a copy?
This magazine embodies everything I hoped this school wouldnt be.Basicaly its an outlet for the New York Socialite in all of us.eww
give them time! now that it's out, maybe people will start contributing. it's hard to get a first issue off the ground because few people will spontaneously contribute to it. thus, the first issue reflects those who atually put the whole concept together. in the future, now that people are aware of it, i'm sure it'll come closer to refecting the diversity of the student body. I propose to do a spread on the many fashionable ways vassar students wear outfits consisting entirely of sweats - to classes, the dc, events, library, even the gym! they're the most versatile couture there is!
I wouldn't call our student body exceptionally diverse. It's pretty much a sea of skinny white hipsters, all of whom are wearing American Apparel and Urban Outfitters. There's not much point in reflecting a sense of diversity that hardly exists. Contrast was pretty much on point.
to be fair, the choices of clothing were taken from the photography director and artistic director's picks out of a much bigger pool of clothing found by stylists. they vetoed a lot of the "weirder" or more interesting items. A lot of it was simply their vision.
OMG WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU talking bout alyssa...THE NIGHT of scantily clad ..SHE WASNT AT VASSAR THE NIGHT OF SCANTILY CLAD SHE WAS AT HER SISTERS SWEET 16 YOU IDIOTS...i was with her...just because your jealous doesnt mean you need to start rumors about a girl that I have known since 4th grade...alyssa is the last person that would ever do drugs..
whoa christinewho let mean girls into vassar?
bitch bitch bitchlove it or leave it, pussies
OH EMM GEEE I BUY MY CLOTHES IN BROOKLYNNNN I'M SOOOOOOOOO COOOOOOOOL!!!!!!!!This was a pathetic attempt at a fashion mag--shouldn't we be focusing on literary magazines and shit. I hope this doesn't get continued.
CONTRAST OWNS BALLSthere were clothes from big names, chanel shoes, prada, etc etc
hi. this is the person who wrote alyssa was a coke head. i just want to say sorry alyssa and to her friends, i'll admit i was jealous of her being on the cover of a magazine. she's gorgeous, and sweet, and drug free, and i hope i didn't hurt her too much. i'm sorry.
I was very underwhelmed, I thought that a lot of the photos in the fashion spreads were bad and unflattering. I thought the clothes DIDN'T represent Vassar style. I hope that contrast improves and the editors choose better clothes. oh and the pictures of random people on vassar campus at the end were terrible. i hated all of their outfits.
just because you didn't like their outfits doesn't mean those pictures shouldn't be in the magazine. i'm pretty sure it was a section saying 'look what people are wearing' and hey, it's what people wear here. not everyone, but those like 4 or 5 people.
