The December issue of Rolling Stone mentioned both Vampire Weekend and Jaymay, two acts who performed at Vassar last semester.
Jaymay is listed as #5 on the Hot List for editors' favorites. Of her song "Sea Green, Sea Blue" the editors write, "This superwistful breakup song from the rising New York singer-songwriter is so cryptic and detail-packed that it could almost be a gender-flipped outtake from Blood on the Tracks."
Vampire Weekend is given the #67 Best Song of the Year for "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa." Of the group, the magazine writes, "New York prepsters take Eighties revivalism to a logical, if not previously forseen, conclusion, biting off a big chunk of Paul Simon's Graceland for an indie-Africa fusion.
