Crossover Opens Party Season

Last night turned into a pretty mayjah shitshow, maybe because it was the first of many Villard Room and dorm parties. Next week are 100 Nights, 100 Nights: Remixed (with Girl Talk), and Seven Deadly Sins. The following weekend is another rave and Mazel Tov Matthew. Crossover, however, had a slow start and an early finish.

One individual was spotted sitting with his head in his hands in several different locations throughout the night. An unidentified female was seen vomiting outside of Jewett at 1am, as a good friend held her hair back.

Police and firemen sped through campus at 1am.

A boy in drag was taken out of Main on a stretcher.

We guess it took a few drinks before people could "break the binary."

The 2011 Red Carpet was a good idea, although not many people utilized it. The sound quality in Villard wasn't so good, and for us at least, the irony of 90's music gets old. There's a time and place for it - The Mug on Wednesdays. The extended catwalk-like platform was a good idea.

Don't take this the wrong way. While we don't know if Crossover will turn into an annual Main party, the Main House Team put a lot of work into it, and it showed. A job well done!

I thought it was a great event. Nice images on the ceiling, the catwalk was perfect, etc. More current music could have been nice, but the mix of old and new was great. It wasn't packed, disgusting, and out-of-control, sure, but I'd have to say it was a success in my book.
And the comment about a few drinks before breaking the binary? WhatEVER. If you need alcohol to make yourself "brave" enough to wear interesting clothes for one night and have fun, then you need to look a little closer at how you view yourself and how much you trust yourself and your friends.
I was there to dance with my friends. I did that. I had a great time. End of story.

I would have to disagree with MADDS. While sure once and a while you can have a "90s" overdose. I think we need to make special exception for DJ ASS LAUGHTER (Asher and Sara) I remember my freshman year they DJed the now infamous Middle School Mug Night which opened the flood gates of 90s music parties on campus. 90s night was established because of the crazy lines waiting for Middle School Mug Night. So, I think anytime DJ ASS LAUGHTER are spinnin'90s tracks its worth a listen. And I met a cute boy dressed as a girl!

I thought the catwalk was a bad idea. it kinda split the dancing into two groups, so you couldn't mingle. oh well.

i thought those trays with the condom goblets was a bad idea and a waste - i thought there would be jello???

the music was great though. and i wish people had gone more all out.

awesome party. i usually don't got to the mainstream VC parties because they're lame, but this was sooo fun. i loved the setup, the music, and the platforms. i mean, we grew up with the '90s! HELLO! i just hated the people who made spectacles of those who crossed. i love my friends and i love dancing (in drag).

Rachel K don't be such a downer, nobody needs to hear an obnoxious straight edge speech. Obviously that isn't what Mads meant. Get over it.

More details on next weekend! 100 nights? DEETZ MADS@!

I think MADS' comment about people needing a few drinks before breaking the binary was cleary a joke, not an invitation for people to make themselves feel noble about their personal choice not to drink. People went to the hospital last night and I don't think anyone should use those people's mistakes to make themselves look mature. Other peoples problems are not your business and it's in poor taste to criticize them. Besides, who at this school really needs to get drunk before cross dressing for fun. I know I don't.

If guys are going to dress in drag, they might as well have gone all the way (because it was kind of gross). That includes shaving and waxing gentlemen!
