Founder's Day Themes

As you probably saw in Sam Charner's email, the choices for Founder's Day theme are:

1) All Things Beatles
2) Candyland
3) Mary Poppins
4) Nightmare Before Christmas
5) Wild West

Hmm. Beatles could be okay. We love Nightmare, but we're not sure about working out as a theme. Wild West could be good?

Our suggestion was "Decades."

What do you think of the choices?

Freshman shouldn't be allowed to suggest/vote for themes because they haven't experienced a Founder's Day yet.

CANDYLAND. and shut the fuck up who ever said freshman shouldn't get the vote. did you get it when YOU were a freshman? don't be such a pompous asshole.

No I didn't vote, there was no voting then. You don't have any idea what Founder's Day is supposed to be like and therefore won't know what a good theme would be. Wild West, for example, would be a horrendous choice for Founder's Day and would be widely protested. I am a junior and who thinks it would be decided by the senior class.

chill out, people. it will be fun no matter what the theme is and who votes for it.

I'm a junior and think the freshmen should be allowed to vote. Their objectivity could bring some new and interesting ideas to the table.

fear and loathing in las vegas - the ultiimate theme. what is founder's day without drugs????

Anyone who has been to Founder's day before knows that all of the suggestions, EXCEPT FOR MARY POPPINS, totally and completely suck.
if we have wild west, i will rip down every shred of hokey-ass decoration.
also, beatles sucks too- do we really need a shitty movie made to their soundtrack AND a founder's day which steals its imagery?
i don't think the founders day committee has enough creativity to actually pull that off.
candyland would be boring because no one really knows the game, which is imperative,
and night before christmas in May? fuck that.
Mary Poppins has the trippiness and the childish fun that is required for founders day. Freshmen, look back at past themes and you'll see that any other theme just wouldn't fit.

peter pan would have been awesome. peeps should do that next year

what were the themes the two years before Fantasia?

Anonymous said...

9:54: no one knows what candyland is? since when?

Anonymous said...

8:56 - somebody correct me if i'm wrong, but i think it was alice in wonderland '06 and wizard of oz '05

wild west. we need wild west.

is there anything better than getting up in the morning, having a beer in the shower, and then putting on some cowboy boots?

no. there isn't.

candyland isn't iconic. it might make a good house/dorm theme party, but it can't sustain the enormity of a founders day. plus eating immense ammounts of free candy when you are drinking beer and taking mushrooms will result in massive amounts of vomit. if candyland accidently happens, i vote that we all vomit on the people who voted for it.

Nintendo should have been up there.

They all suck, though. Maybe we can override the decision, like people did last year? (take that James Bond)

And no, freshmen shouldn't be included in the vote.

candyland would be a dumb theme because theres no corresponding movie to watch at night when everyone's coming down.

two words on wild west: mechanical bull

MARY POPPINS. MARY POPPINS.

Anyone who has experienced founder's day has to know that this is the only one that will work. Freshmen, do yourselves a favor and trust us upper classmen....you'll be happy you did.

word on Mary P... who doesn't want to jump into chalk drawings and go fly a kite? Moreover: just a spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down.
