Matthew Vassar's Unusual Death

One Mads reader was perusing the Wikipedia entry for "List of unusual deaths" and came across none other than Matthew Vassar.

1868: Matthew Vassar, brewer and founder of Vassar College, died in mid-speech while delivering his farewell address to the College Board of Trustrees.

10:45 pm friday night: several security guards seen with two students outside of the parking lot between lathrop and strong standing around a big red mark on the sidewalk, that looked a lot like blood.

Matthew Vassar, what a guy. He builds a college out of beer money, creates the first American Women's college, and dies mid speech. What an interesting life he led.

when they read the rest of his speech afterwards, it turned out that he had included a comment that they were lucky no one had died yet.
