Winter Storm Warning

A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST SATURDAY FOR ULSTER...DUTCHESS...AND LITCHFIELD COUNTIES.

TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 12 INCHES ARE EXPECTED FRIDAY MORNING THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT. THE HIGHEST TOTALS WILL BE OVER THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF THE CATSKILLS AND LITCHFIELD HILLS.

THE SNOW WILL BECOME MODERATE TO HEAVY AT TIMES INTO THE AFTERNOON. THE SNOW WILL FALL AT RATES CLOSE TO AN INCH AN HOUR. AS WARMER AIR MOVES IN ALOFT... SOME SLEET WILL MIX IN DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING. THIS WILL LIMIT ACCUMULATION RATES...BUT WILL KEEP UNTREATED SURFACES VERY SLIPPERY. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 4 TO 8 INCHES WILL BE COMMON BY THE AFTERNOON COMMUTE.
