Any Day Now?

Still no decision yet on this year's Commencement Speaker, according to the office of Public Relations.

UPDATE: An anonymous "insider" tells Mads:

we decided the speaker a couple months ago, the president approved, and he accepted. it's a very, very big name. i can't say who it is, but i can tell you that he will be very controversial in the Vassar community. the thinking was that someone of more neo-conservative leanings would be good for the class the hear, since people always complain that speeches here are overwhelmingly Democratic and liberal.

good, this campus could benefit from a speaker who isn't a socialist union-supporting Democrat.

haha
great thinking vassar. nothing represents our community more than a conservative ass hole pushing his right wing, hypocritical, bull shit agenda. I'm sure the 10 republicans on campus will be shooting off their loads all night long!

Oh man...if that's true, I hope they like the sound of two thousand boos.

finally, some sense at vassar. maybe we'll finally hear an opinion that's not something out of the social welfare big government playbook.

GOOD. Someone told me that Terry Gross last year did nothing but bitch about Republicans and conservatives. Maybe Vassar kids will finally experience the other side of a political discussion. Some conservative principles might be good for them, since they'll be paying taxes after they graduate. And nothing cuts away at liberal b.s. than actually getting a job and paying taxes.

it would be nice to have a non-politico... :-\

I'm not conservative, but I actually kind of like this idea. It'll be refreshing to get some alternate opinions represented.

Can any of you in-the-know people tell us when they're planning to announce it? I'm DYING to know!

I wish we would get JK Rowling like stupid Harvard. Balls.

I guess I will be the one to give it up. And yes, I don't know why we did it. But I am sure it is going to be a memorable graduation. It is Bill O'Reilly

6:50 has a great point, why the hell does it have to be a speaker with a political angle?
