Commencement Speaker Announced *Breaking News*

The New York Times Magazine columnist RANDY COHEN has been confirmed as this year's Commencement Speaker, according to a Misc online article.

Mads leaked this two days ago! You read it here first!

As we posted on Monday, Cohen speaks for between $10,000 and $20,000. His speech topics include "How to Be Good" and "Plagiarism, a Kind of Defense."

Vassar College Public Relations has yet to send out a press release.

i think o'reilly would have sparked debate a lot more. it's just more of the same. democrat democrat democrat. his column is basically a treatise on liberalism.

no one wants to hear o'reilly spew fucking racism, homophobia, and sexism. get over what you think liberal speakers will say. if you want to see the dickhead talk turn on fox news. @3:33 i hope a poor welfare mother robs your entitled pussy ass.

i'm graduating and i don't give a fuck about having someone spark a debate. fuck that conservative bullshit, i don't want to hear it and i refuse to give it a public space to infest. especially since this motherfucker o'reilly is a racist, sexist, and homophobe.

Because that's keeping with your openminded, liberal tradition, promoting freedom of speech and diversity on campus, right 4:59 PM?

I see a lot of "tolerance" for conservative views from liberal Vassar students. I guess we can only be tolerant of the "correct" agenda? Everything else merits "i hope a poor welfare mother robs your entitled pussy ass"?

I don't know why everybody seems to be politicizing this so much. Cohen is a humorist and ethicist, not really a political commentator. Wouldn't it be more open-minded to eschew the liberal conservative dichotomy and just see him as a person?
(the answer is yes)

Meryl Streep couldn't have done it. She's already delivered a commencement address at Vassar (a long time ago), and each speaker is only allowed to do it once. Bummer though.

hate speech (i.e. racism, sexism, and homophobia) doesn't constitute free speech 5:13.

Being liberal doesn't mean being accepting of ideas that are destructive and hateful. If you share Bill O'Reilly's opinions about civil liberties and economics, that doesn't mean you're conservative - that just means you're an idiot.
