I may disagree with Mads's support of Hillary Clinton, but it is great to see that he actually cares to cover politics and other important news in the real world, which is not confined by the insular Vassar bubble. In anticipation of lively debate, it is disheartening to find that all the comments are posted by trolls whose only accomplishment is giving the indication of Vassar being an apathetic campus where people only call themselves liberals as part of a projected self image.
5:48, it's hard for busy people to read a news source as detailed as the Times more than once a day. On Mads, you can read it in 30 seconds, and at a "liberal" school, it is nice to have a place to discuss what is happening in the outside world. 6:29, Sarah, Zach, and 5:59, thank you.
6:37, the kind of news that Mads posts are the stories that are right at the top of the Times website (the Edwards endorsement story, for example). It doesn't exactly take a "detailed" reading, or a supplemental blog post for that matter, to be aware of the major news stories in the world.
then read the fucking new york times and remove your negative nacy ass from this Blog.

mads, it's not that you can't post news on this blog. it's your blog and you can do whatever the hell you want. its that it makes it incredibly boring. people can read the vassar homepage and the misc and check infosite themselves. you're just not the best source of news, no offense. as a reader, i (and clearly many others) would prefer that you stick to purely gossip and jokes and stuff. otherwise i have no reason to visit your site and probably won't any more

news in the real world? yes, very important; the more we know, the better decisions we can make. but if "real world" news is going to show up on mads, i'd like to see a little coverage on something other than obamaorhillaryomg! ... like the earthquake in chongqing? or does a death toll of 12,000 people not constitute 'real world' newsworthy news? or how about the situation in myanmar? what's the story there - over 38,000 dead and a government refusing basic humanitarian aid? i'm not saying this is an either-or situation (gossip or news source) but let's also not kid ourselves that we're getting an accurate view outside the bubble from mads ...

this is very exciting for me. i really believe that if obama gets the nomination he should run with john edwards. i think john edwards would be a great president, but he keeps getting overshadowed by more "trendy" candidates (kerry, clinton, obama). though i am a staunch obama supporter, if he were in this primary race with edwards i'd have a really hard time choosing.
also, i hope he got that jetski.

Ok, Mads may not be a journalist, and yes, we can read this stuff elsewhere... but there are no other forums, or very few forums (NY times? Infosite?) where readers can comment on and discuss them as a community. I think it's fine that Mads posts these things.
