OTR: Serenading Is Craziest College Tradition

The college blog network collegeOTR.com has named Vassar's "Serenading" activity as the #1 Craziest College Tradition.

Of serenading, the blog says: "Each year freshmen and seniors partake in an event called Serenading. Seniors walk dorm to dorm where freshman sing songs insulting the senior class and students throw condiments, ranging from chocolate syrup to water balloons filled with ketchup."

Update: Sorry, the link should work here.

it is more weird and mess than crazy, i would say. like it isnt that novel of an idea..

they screwed up the description though...the freshmen sing songs that COMPLIMENT, not insult the senior class. and they're supposed to take it as the seniors throw food at them and stuff, not throw food back at them.

yeah. this year was seriously effed up. i was a senior and it just sort of foreshadowed the other ways in which the freshman class would act entitled and obnoxious!!

as in-- we got ambushed by EVERY DORM!! traditionally it's only joss that does it. so that was really disappointing. i blame it on the house team leaders though. so it's the sophomores' fault.

Just to put it out there, main didnot ambush anyone. we took it, how do they say, lying down?

and so ends a tradition....

Cushing did, in fact, plan to not even attempt to sing and just went straight into food war.

Fact.

With all due respect, sometimes I just wished Vassar students would embrace some traditions.
