1:16 i dont know exactly what bootleg dvd you are referring to, but film league always uses legit dvds. there may have been problems with vassar's equiptment that affected the showing, but they've never used bootleg movies. that's just stupid...and illegal.
5:50, I don't know about this year but I went to some of the meetings last year and they have admitted to downloading shit off the internet and then playing them if the dvd didn't come out yet or if they couldn't find it on the site they use to get movies.
i can tell you from experience that film league always has legal copies of whatever movie they show because i used to run the dvd player for them. sometimes the equipment will crap out, but film league doesn't buy bootlegs. you can tell tell from the quality of the picture.
so, someone, anyone, please explain to me how tonight was NOT a bootleg copy? ON VH-FUCKING-S FOR CHRSISSAKES.
oh, and knocked up was so bootleg last year the system wouldn't even play it. except even i have a better bootleg copy of dark knight than the garbage i saw in blodgett. for those going tomorrow: save time and pregame for moulin rouge instead.
advanced copies of movies like the dark knight are only available in vhs format. regardless of what film league has done in the past, this year it has not and will not use bootleg movies. things will be changed to improve tomorrow's screening.
whats the point of showing only movies that are already on dvd? i always appreciated that about film league, that they could offer things we couldn't see anywhere else at a certain point in time. it gives a reason to them being on campus. it's unfortunate that you are all just looking for something to complain about. you try doing what they do.
1:59, id rather wait a few weeks and see a movie in its proper aspect ratio with understandable audio and clear video that doesnt go out every 30 minutes.
12:47, time is money. people who wasted their time at the showing could have been spending their time drinking, complaining about drinkers, complaining about the elitist people that go here, sawing off shotguns and mugging people. etc.

ive been to a meeting this year-the girl who is in charge most def pays for them
and on another note i'm SO EXCITED FOR THIS MOVIE!
5:50, last year they would show movies before they were released on DVD...
but anyway, i'm so excited for batman
I remember reading somewhere that Film League is able to get legal advance copies from the studios.
film league pays to get advanced (and legal) copies of movies like the dark knight

yeah tonight's showing was awful. VHS, 4x3, and audio so bad you couldn't hear half of what was said

Film league: are you kidding me with this shit?
chill the fuck out its a free movie
i love how everyone is blaming vice for this. vice doesnt own that equiptment, its not their fault the movie was bad
vice couldve waited a few weeks for the actual dvd to come out.

how does you guys know it was on vhs?

2:10 understandable but thats still the fault of whoever runs the film, not whoever chooses it.
