Sources tell us that Nancy Killefer '75 has withdrawn her name from consideration for the Chief Performance Officer position in the Obama administration.
Neither CNN nor The New York Times seem to be covering the story, but we found confirmation here.
The Vassar grad is expected to give her reason for pulling out later today. Sources believe her withdrawal will have something to do with a failure to "pay employment taxes on household help" over a year ago.
Update: The New York Times now has the story here.
Update #2: More details have emerged over the last few hours. Killefer wrote in a letter to President Obama that the tax issue "could be used to create exactly the kind of distraction and delay those duties must avoid...Because of this I must reluctantly ask you to withdraw my name from consideration."
Tom Daschle also withdrew his nomination this morning over tax issues.
