Just when we thought the "Backpage" controversy was starting to die down, the new calendar section in today's Misc took this dig at the former Backpage writers:
"Tea. Instead of getting a job, I'm going to belligerently and incoherently write about the death of the Backpage on my blog! This is the most important thing that's happened in my life since graduation! Rose Parlor."
Loving the drama. Stay tuned.

This is quickly descending into drama of middle school proportions...
agreed. Let's all be friends.
This controversy is so last weekend.
Quick! We need new controversy!
oh hey, want to hear something refreshing?
I'm an alum! with a job! That I work, sometimes eleven hours a day!
When I tell people I went to Vassar, I want it to mean something very specific. Often, the humor of the backpage expressed that.
THAT'S why this matters, yo. If y'alls want to go to a homogenized learning institution, enjoy your four years. I'm just glad I had the best of the backpage for my four.
also, @Respire- someone should restart the gossip server. That'll give 'em something to controverse about.

Joke's on them because guess what, we DO have jobs. In media even! And when there aren't ANY jobs when they graduate and their trust funds are depleted, we're not going to help them. Oh to be a sad little Miscer today! Annnnd back to work at my real website.
Also, if you need a new controversy, it's Sept 11. I'm sure someone at the Misc will write a misguided tribute.
So now the Misc is not only a piece of shit, but a beligerant piece of shit? And not only beligerant, but also humorless? RIP.
There have been 9 stories about this in the past week. Nothing has changed. It's probably time to move on.
this is EXACTLY what the old backpage writers would've published. they're such hypocrites.
omg you alums seriously need to move on with your lives. it's just ridiculous now.
also, i've noticed that the campus is much friendlier and feels like a community now. i guess its because people like these nutty alums took their bad energy with them when they graduated.
Bad energy is when you approach us on V-Net asking for help because we work at Us Weekly, Seventeen, and New York magazine, and us not helping you! Come on.
How come nobody is mad that they want to replace it with a SPORTS page? Vassar is a D3 school no disrespect to Acacia but wasn't the sports coverage fine before?
The Backpage is one of the wonderful unique saving graces of Vassar. Believe me yall will be upset when you can't make jokes about heteronormativity post-graduation. Then you'll feel like you don't have a life!
It seems like this "controversy" is being fueled by alums, who are being facilitated by Mads (who is just using this whole thing to try to score points against the Misc). From the public statements of the Misc, it is clear that the decision has been made, and no amount of umbrage or personal attacks on Ruby or Brian from alums will change that. Alums, you had your four years, and it's time to let other people have theirs.
What's sad about the whole debate is how disinterested current Vassar students are. You're the people who have to interact with these lame wanna be dictators from the Misc, you should care more!
Alums simply have a little more wisdom than younger students do: that's the simple and indisputable truth. And just because you've graduated doesn't mean you don't care about the institution you helped to shape!
The only reason this went on so long is because Vassar students aren't used to any of the college's news outlets covering legitimate stories. We're news starved.
And believe me, I worked for the Misc, and I can tell you that just because there was a unanimous vote doesn't mean people agreed unanimously. For the most part people don't want to rock the boat so that they can advance their position in the retarded Misc hierarchy, and if sacrificing the only readable part of the paper was what had to happen, I guess these kids decided to vote for their own interests and against free speech on campus.
Also good point Meggie: I hope one day that little shit Ruby comes to my media work asking for a job so I can tell her to go suck it.
"Librarian", there's absolutely no need for you to be as nasty and hateful as you're being. It's really unpleasant, especially for something as inconsequential as the backpage. Ruby works her ass off, and absence of the backpage aside, the Misc looks better than ever. You're acting like she personally killed your family or something.
