Jackie O Called Vassar "A Huge Lonely Place"

It hasn't been the best day for Vassar. Not only did a former employee allegedly embezzle millions of dollars so that he could buy BMWs and Rolexes, but the New Yorker published letters in which a young Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis disses Vassar. Here is the excerpt:

"She is unimpressed by Vassar—'a huge lonely place'—on a visit, adding that if her father insists on her going there she will rebel and work her way through Sarah Lawrence until he relents."

The former first lady did in fact end up coming here, although she left junior year for a Smith program in France and spent her senior year at George Washington University.
